    Not worth it

I bought a Kindle I a couple of months ago –got a deal- after the Kindle IIs came out. Then I sent it back and bought a Kindle II. I sent it back too after about a week of comparing it to Sony’s Ebook. Over the last several months, I tried all three.

The Kindle I is more solid and works better; however, the II is more supported, etc. The bottom line is that the Sony is slightly better with its back lights, solid construction, etc.

Even more frustrating, is that the next generations are almost here with COLOR and other enhancements. I would hate to invest now and in a few months could have had a better unit.(I even sent the Sony back too and decided to just wait a couple of months)

My bottom, bottom line is that I will wait; the market will change drastically in a couple of months and the competition from B&N, etc., will drive the prices down, too.

I have monkeyed around with the Kindle for a day now and I am amazed by it. Sure you can always find ways to improve it but overall the Kindle is one of those devices that just works.

The Kindle was shipped quickly and nicely packaged. When opened it was halfway charged and in less than 2 hours after plugging it in it was fully charged.

No real setup just read the welcome then go to the bookstore on the Kindle or your computer and buy a book, newspaper, magazine or blog. I was a bit hesitant about buying blogs since I have it in my head that you can read everything on the computer. But once I browsed the Kindle Blogs I think they might be a better deal than magazines. There is some real cheap content in the Kindle store but it may take some shopping to find your interests.

Between my wife, my son and me I really think the Kindle is going to be well used.

I have never been so excited about a technology since the internet came to the forefront. Now that Amazon is getting some competition from others (B&N and Sony) I really expect ereading to take off. I hope schools will wise up and use this technology for text books instead of making children carry around a backpack full of 6 textbooks.

When I have used the Kindle a bit longer I should do a better review but judging by my early experience I see no reason why not to buy a Kindle. So put your money down and enjoy!!!!

    My Kindle
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I love my Kindle. It goes where I go……..so much easier than carrying a big book with me and if I finish what I am reading, I can just download another book in less than 60 seconds. I don’t know what I would do without it and recommend a Kindle to anyone that loves to read!

Best gift that I could ever buy for myself:)

I have wanted to buy a reading device for over a year. So I did a lot of research online. I read everything people were blogging and reviews. I finally picked the Kindle 2 because I felt it was the right choice for me. I also bought it refurbished because I still get the one year warranty. I have reading nonstop since it arrived at my doorstep. No more books all over the floor in my room and now I can lay down on my bed without a big bulky book trying to get comfortable when I turn the page. I bought a light that is perfect for night time reading. My daughter bought me leather case and now I take it with me to appointments when I know I will have to be waiting forever. Overall, I am happy with my Kindle and for $219.00 it is worth every penny:)

Keep going Kindle team! We love what you’re doing. Can’t wait to see what you come up with in the future. Our purchase of books has already taken a big jump – and it was big before. We finally don’t have to plan an extra wing on the house to store them all!

The Kindle is the perfect travel companion
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I really enjoy taking the Kindle to appointments where I have to wait and on vacation. I used to take several books in the suitcase, but now it lightens the load to take twice as many books on this small device. I enjoy the ability to change font size and the lack of glare makes this so much nicer than the computer screen. I have recommended the product repeatedly.

    BEWARE…DO NOT BUY A KINDLE!!!
    Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I just got the Kindle. I’ts basically a simple computer with a black and white screen and bad keyboard. But aside from the crappy feel of the thing, here is the important stuff you need to know:

Soon there will be COMMERCIALS and ADVERTISING between the pages of your books if you buy a Kindle. If you are ok with that, buy a Kindle. But soon there will be POP-UP ADS just like the internet. SO i ask you this, do you think you have the patience to read a book on the internet or on your laptop? Probably not. Not buy a Kindle. Buyer Beware.

I just love reading books in this small machine and the best part is I am in Hong Kong and I can still download books from Amazon within a minute..and I have read more books and more different genre as they provide a sample. Hope that there will be a DX international version or touch screen version launched soon.

I LOVE, LOVE this device! It fits in my smaller sized hands easily, weighs little and has a great screen. I was able to download several books prior to a vacation earlier this fall and, had an easy to pack book available the entire time. I did take it to the beach, and although we were outside the USA and I couldn’t download any new books still enjoyed the kindle. In fact, my husband who didn’t want to take a book, ended up “stealing” my kindle so he could read one of my downloaded items. I have used it to research texts, make notes, and talk to doctors, etc. I’ve also used it as a work device now that a professional organization I belong to has connected with Amazon to deliver their books wirelessly. Don’t hesitate, buy it!!
